Good, simple food. And fast--I'd barely had time to sit down before my Tasty Pup and cheese fries were ready! Delicious hot dog loaded with fresh toppings, and while not hand cut, the fries were hot and crisp. Coming in just under $5, I didn't think it was terribly priced considering how much I enjoyed my lunch. Will definitely be keeping this place in mind when I'm in the area!

Kind of grimy, walls and woodwork and ceiling need a handyman. Burgers were tiny, two out of four orders came out incorrectly, and refills are 50 cents. Which I would have been fine with except that the credit card minimum is $5 so no easy way to get a refill because I almost never carry cash.

Like the addition of Mexican food. Delicious steak tacos. No a lot of fast, cheap Mexican around Park Ridge. The staff was a bit slow (you can tell they're new at this) but they were friendly and enthusiastic.

Well after changing ownership 2 times in less than 6 months, Tasty Pup is not the same. The original owners, Pam & Luis, made this place great. The new owner, I'm not so sure. Many of the original menu items are gone, such as Italian Beef & Sausage. I had a traditional hot dog, but the end of the bun was hard, it was obviously oversteamed or old. The fries are different, and the tamale was left in the microwave too long, drying it out. And the new owner is charging for soda refills, who does that anymore? I walked out a little disappointed, not sure if I'll be back.

Food is average. Portion sizes are small. Rather expensive for the food. Not going back.

Pricey for what you get. I mean its not like the dog is home made. Yes, they pile on veggies, but no hot dog (unless its some special concoctions) should ever cost more than $2.

I would guess that 80% of the people who happen upon this place do so by accident. On a quiet street in Park Ridge, with hardly enough foot traffic to keep a lemonade stand afloat, lies a small nondescript hotdog stand with surprisingly good food. It's located in a small storefront on a block of old-school architecture facing the Metra railroad tracks. I have only tried the hot dogs but they have hamburgers, Italian beefs, Gyros and all the other offerings meant to satisfy our cultures insatiable love affair with dead animals. (Yeah, I know) It came with two large slices of tomato the size of my head, with cucumbers, sliced pickles, shredded iceberg lettuce, onions and was very good. I found the shredded lettuce a surprise but actually loved it. The french fries were particularly good and probably the best ones I've eaten in a long time. A large portion for just a small order and they were light, crispy and just delicious. I also like the fact that they have soft serve ice cream cones. Something one doesn't see every day, especially in this area. Well, okay, there is another place but I'm not going to tell. This place has a lot of charm and a great place to stop when you're passing through, shopping, after seeing a show or have some late-night munchies.

A simple old fashioned hot dog stand! Great dogs and burgers! Super fast service at a fair price. Give them a try and you'll be back!

I came here with my 6 year old for lunch on a weekday. This place is rather tiny but it does have a few tables inside. Just from the look of things, I'm pretty sure carryout is more than half of their orders. It's certainly not expensive. My son got a kids meal with hot dog, fries and drink. I got a cheeseburger combo, all for under $10. Since we were eating in, I thought we would get a basket or tray. Well, we did, but all the food items were carefully wrapped up and placed in their little plastic baskets. When we unwrapped all our food, suddenly our table was a mess of wrapping paper. It would be easier and less wasteful for all if they just served it in the basket minus wrapping if you're eating in. Anyway, the hot dog was Vienna Beef and pretty good. The burger was nothing impressive but not bad either. I'd prefer a flame-grilled burger, though. Since it was wrapped for a few minutes, the bun got a little distorted and damp from the hot burger patty inside the wrap. Their fries are great though. Service was pretty quick overall too. Nothing spectacular, but a decent place for a quick, cheap lunch near the Park Ridge Metra station a half-block to the west.

There are many pluses to Tasty Pup, but their food isn't one of them. The tiny restaurant is attractive and clean. The owners and their staff are friendly. However, the food is mediocre. I've been here a few times as a matter of convenience and it hasn't gotten any better. The hamburgers are paper thin frozen patties. The polish sausage is small and isn't a natural casing product. The fries are frozen--not fresh cut. Just because it's fast food, doesn't mean the restaurant has to take short cuts on quality. If you live in the area and want to take your kids for a hot dog, Tasty Pup will probably fill the bill. If you want good tasting, quality, fast food, there are many other places that do a much better job.

I have passed Tasty Pup a number of times while visiting Park Ridge. Yesterday I was in town with my three young girls and both their grandmothers. We stopped in for a quick bite and to refuel from a nice walk around town. We ordered 3 hot dog kid meals which come with fries and a drink which was plenty to serve an adult. I ordered the bacon-cheese (Chicago style) hot dog. I have one word, AWESOME. The bacon was wrapped around the hot dog and when you bit into it you got the crunch from the bacon the gooeyness from the cheese sauce, and the juiciness from the hot dog. It is an explosion of flavors in your mouth. The lettuce tomatoes onions and pickles on top where crispy and fresh. The sport peppers were served on the side but were promptly added to this amazing sandwich. To top it off the staff was very friendly and although there is not a lot of seating everything was very clean. I will definitely go back next time I am in the area.

Tasty Pup is a small hot dog joint located along Summit Street. Tasty Pup was featured on ABC's Hungry Hound in July of 2009. The marquee of this place is "a garden on a bun" The hot dogs are Vienna Beef dogs covered with a large heap of lettuce and big slices of tomatoes and cucumbers--basically a salad dumped on top of a hot dog. Regular hot dogs cost $2.40, what seems to be the going rate in these parts. Hamburgers, Maxwell Street Polishes, Italian beef sandwiches, gyros, fries, onion rings, and shakes are also available. Prices are very fair. The staff were friendly and grateful for my business. Tasty Pup is a 3-star eatery. One star was deducted for the cramped fourteen-seat dining area. One star was deducted for the narrow hours: 11am-7pm weekdays, 11am-5pm weekends. I hope Tasty Pup stands the test of time. The street it sits on is not too busy and many locals do not this place exists.

For a quick bite to eat for lunch, I would not hesitate to recommend Tasty Pup. This is a no frills, non-fancy place -- just burgers, hot dogs and fries. My coworker and I ate here for lunch - hot dog for her and cheeseburger for me. Their french fries are particularly good. It's a little hard to find the first time because it's on a side street right outside of the main downtown area of Park Ridge. But once you do find it it's pretty easy to find again.

Hot Dog: Uninspired and just OK. The dog was bland. Bun OK. Toppings weird - I love lettuce on most sandwiches but who puts it on a Chicago dog?! Fries: Pretty good. Thin and lite - reminded me of Fluky's fries. Chicken wings: They have hot and mild - I went with mild. Delicious. I love deep fried breaded wings and comes with buttermilk ranch. And it's hard to find good wings of this type! Prices were fair. I'd go elsewhere for a dog but I might be back to get my breaded chicken wing fix!

I went to Tasty Pup for the first time this past weekend with my family. I must say it was very busy but the wait was short. The service there was fast and the food was even better than the service. I myself enjoyed a cheeseburger, which was grilled and put together to my likings. The veggies on the burger were so fresh, it really made the burger taste as if I payed eight dollars at Dennys but it was far from that. My Wife had a Gyro. Yes, she loved it!!! I had to taste it of course, it was delicious. One of my sons had a hot dog with the works. They really load it up, which he enjoyed and my other son had a kids meal corn-dog. We all had ice cream there after the end of this great meal. They have succeeded with helping out during this crisis we are having in this economy because their price are very reasonable and they have very good food.
